I grew up in a region known as the Palouse which consists primarily of eastern Washington and northern Idaho. The Palouse can be described as rolling hills of wheat and barley and incredibly vibrant sunsets. I earned a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from the University of Idaho and from there worked as a research staff member in a plant virology laboratory. I volunteered at the local alternative school as an aid and discovered I loved working with kids. From there I was hired to teach middle school science (8th grade) in Garland, Texas and lived there for 3 years. While teaching there, I earned my teaching certification from Texas A & M. We moved to Utah when my husband’s job changed and I taught at Rocky Mountain Junior High for several years. While there I earned my Master’s degree in Geoscience from Mississippi State University. I love reading, animals and spending time outdoors with my kids. I am proud and excited to be a part of Project Lead the Way. I think it is a program like no other.
